On her way to her sister’s bakery, she meets a mystery man who saves her from prying soldiers. She has already determined that her life is everything but exciting, that nothing will ever happen to her, and that she might as well give up any thoughts of adventure or excitement in her life. Satirical and cheeky, Sophie Hatter is the eldest of three sisters and lives a simple life as a hatmaker. From steampunk elements to vintage twists and French architecture, Howl’s Moving Castle is a fantastical film brimming with inspiration! Howl’s Moving Castle Fashion Inspiration Image Source: Studio Ghibli In an endeavor to return to normal, Sophie must accompany Howl and a myriad of eccentric companions-ranging from a powerful fire demon to a hopping scarecrow-in his living castle on a dangerous adventure, as a raging war tears their kingdom apart. Unfortunately, this encounter, brief as it may be, spurs the vain and vengeful Witch of the Waste-in a fit of jealousy caused by a past discord with Howl- to put a curse on Sophie, turning her into a 90-year-old woman. However, Sophie’s simple life takes a turn for the exciting when she is ensnared in a disturbing situation, and the mysterious wizard Howl appears to rescue her. Sophie Hatter, as the plain daughter of a hatmaker, does not expect much from her future and is content with making hats for the rest of her life. Based on the novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones, the story is charming and full of magic. That jumbled piece of architecture, that cacophony of hissing steam and creaking joints, with smoke billowing from it as it moves on its own… That castle is home to the magnificent wizard Howl, infamous for both his magical prowess and womanizing tendencies-or, so the rumor goes in Sophie’s small town. The movie holds a special place in the hearts of many for its wit, beauty, and complex characters, exemplified by its many memorable quotes. Sophie goes on a journey to undo the curse and finds herself in the company of The Great Wizard Howl Pendragon, fire demon Calcifer, and Howl's apprentice, Markl. The plot follows Sophie, an apprentice at a hat shop who has a fateful encounter with the Witch of the Waste that leaves her in the form of an old woman. Howl's Moving Castle (2004) is a Studio Ghibli animation driven by the spellbinding storytelling of Hayao Miyazaki. The first look images of the park (as per The Japan Times) show installations related to beloved characters like Totoro and No-Face in an experience that looks to be just as memorable as the studio's best quotes. Howl's Moving Castle remains one of Studio Ghibli's most popular works to date, and fans of the studio will be able to experience the wonder of their movies in a brand-new way when amusement park Ghibli Park opens in Japan this November.
